Hello, my name is Juan Ferrer (1991) and I'm a Santiago-based designer, artist and curator.
Since 2016 i?ve been directing the Museo del Hongo (Fungus Museum) project, founding it and working as director, curator and artist, were I brought up to the mainstream some issues around the Fungi Kingdom questioning art and science practices and contemporary museographic activity, using design tools for the creation of new immersive experiences and interactions.
In 2017, I won “Do Your Thesis in Culture” contest held by National Council for Culture and the Arts, with his essay The Fungi Museum: across art, science and design in which he explains the importance of the curatorial practice within multidisciplinary contexts, relating it to the way fungi develops and lives.
He is currently directing and curating Museo del Hongo, PAM Chile and working as a free-lance designer.
Among his many research interests are visual arts, aesthetics, museography, curatorship, communications, natural sciences, landscaping, new media, technologies, music and underground culture, cinematography, fashion and LGBTIQ+ culture, applying his many interests and references to design new and unexpected relations, always enhancing the fantasy that storytelling provides, and what he loves the most.
